Despite a recent lack of support for the Ghana national team, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes that local fans will resume their love for the national team in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghanaian fans have become disillusioned with the Black Stars, especially after the team’s deplorable money saga at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil – where they failed to advance beyond the first round.

Even a runners-up showing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Ghana were beaten on penalties in the final by Ivory Coast) did little to win back major public support.

But Udinese midfielder Agyemang-Badu believes that Ghana’s football-loving public will resume their support of the Black Stars, starting with their first Group E 2018 qualifier at home to Uganda on Friday.

“I know they will surely come back to support us. We are always worried about the fans’ failure to turn up for Black Stars matches of late but I am sure they will come back,” Badu said in a Ghana press conference this week.

“We are just appealing to the fans that without them we can’t move on. I am sure that the fans will soon come back. It’s just a matter of time,” he added.
