The latest development surrounding the life and health of Cameroon legend Rigobert Song is that he will be transferred to France.
According to BBC, Song has regained consciousness and will be airlifted to France on Tuesday as the former defender is fighting for his life.
Media reports revealed that the 40-year-old was hospitalised in Yaounde after suffering from a stroke at his home on Sunday.
Speaking to the BCC, Director of the hospital’s emergency centre Dr Louis Joss Bitang A Mafok confirmed that Song is in a stable condition.
“He has come out of his coma and the oxygen has been disconnected,” said Mafok to the BBC.
“His high blood pressure has returned to normal and the cerebral haemorrhage has been controlled.
“A medical aircraft will be in Cameroon in the [Tuesday] morning, we will have a working session with the French team and then he will be flown to France.”
On the other hand, the Indomitable Lions legend Roger Milla believes Song will pull through with the help of prayers.
“It’s terrible what has happened. We can only pray to God that he comes through it,” Milla tells L’Equipe.
The former Liverpool and West Ham United defender made 137 appearances for Cameroon whilst featuring in four FIFA World Cup tournaments between 1994 and 2010.
