Representatives of Kingsley Sokari have confirmed a Qatari club are interested in snapping up the Nigeria midfielder from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien.
The unnamed Qatari club are willing to fork out as much as $1.5 million for the former Enyimba star.
“Yes, I’m in the know of this interest from Qatar”, confirmed Vincent Alumona, the player’s intermediary.
“But you will agree with me that it is not a place for a young, promising player like Sokari.
“Also, his club are not eager for such a deal. The player himself has told me that in reassuring him of his place in the team following the sack of the former coach, the president of CSS told him that if he were to leave, it will be to Europe, so he should forget about this interest from Qatar.
“So, though it is not yet official with me, I would say all parties are on the same page regarding the player’s future.
“There have been interest in Sokari from France and Turkey, so, I wouldn’t make much of this bid from Qatar.”
Following the disengagement of coach Chiheb Ellili after the goalless draw at US Ben Guerdane, Sokari has been reinstalled to the starting line-up.
He featured for the first team in a test game on Saturday and he is in line for a debut this season in the home game against JS Kairouan on October 16, when the championship resumes at the end of the three-week international break.
